Change is under way with the Montville Village Association.
It is time for a changing of the guard. I will be stepping down as President of the MVA at our Annual General Meeting next month. I have enjoyed my time as President; however, I think it is important to make way for fresh energy and ideas. I will be staying on the Management Committee as the outgoing President, participating in events and of course I will be cooking pancakes on the second Saturday of every month for the Montville Growers and Makers Market.
The MVA will be holding our AGM on October 16 at 5.30pm at the Montville Village Hall. Councillor Jenny McKay will be our guest and we look forward to the opportunity to catch up on the latest news from the Sunshine Coast Council. This will be Jenny’s last year as our Councillor, and the AGM is a great opportunity to thank her for being a responsive and active representative for Montville. I look forward to seeing you at there.
Do you enjoy a good quiz ? Come and join us for the Montville Trivia Night on Saturday 2 November at 7.00pm in the Montville Village Hall. Rosemary DeLeon and I have been busily writing questions and Wayne Parcell is brushing off his best velvet jacket to be our Trivia Master of Ceremonies. It is shaping up to be a fun night. All you need to do is get a team of 10 people together and book a table at firstname.lastname@example.org. Entry is $10 per person. There will be a bar provided on the night, you just need to bring along some nibbles to share with your table.
Wondering what happened after the Montville Futures Workshop? We have put together a report which has been well received by Council as a great insight into our community and our needs for the future. The Montville Chamber of Commerce have also been positive about the project’s findings and we are looking forward to opportunities to work together. We are setting up two working groups – the first will examine planning, infrastructure, and environmental issues and the second working group will look at developing more opportunities for community events. If you are interested in participating in either of these working groups please contact Louise at email@example.com.
Good news on the deck. We have contracted local builder Rod Nash to build the deck and he is set to start on 3 February 2020. We have raised enough money for the first stage of the deck and the disabled access ramp to be built. So far we have raised an additional $16,000 since we began our community appeal. Thank you to all those who have contributed. We will need another $16,000 to finish off the second stage of the project which includes the supply and installation of timber sliding doors to connect the supper room to the new deck and the installation of new water tanks under the deck. All donations are gratefully accepted, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who turns up and contributes to the MVA and to our community. Being part of the MVA has reinforced for me that community is something that you actively build, it doesn’t happen by accident. I have been privileged to be a part of an amazing team of people on the MVA Management Committee and to be a member of such an active and engaged community. Thank you.
I look forward to seeing you at the AGM and at the market and sharing pancakes on the deck.
President, Montville Village Association
