We were blessed with a beautiful start to the morning. Over 400 people attended the dawn service to pay their respects to the fallen and to those who continue their legacy, fighting for freedom in far off lands. It’s always a time of reflection and, for some, of great emotion. Our MC, Denis Condon, President of the Mapleton RSL Sub Branch, did a wonderful job of leading the service and we were very lucky to have Gordon Ferguson playing bagpipes and Harrison Slatter playing trumpet for the Last Post and Reveille. The Montville School Captains raised the flags and read the Requiem. Afterwards we indulged in very tasty Anzac biscuits and tea and coffee. All of this helped by contributions from local kitchens and from Montville Coffee (thank you for delish coffee!). Thank goodness for great volunteers who made the event run so smoothly!
