Well, another term has flown by at Montville State School. We have had a trip to Canberrra, an 80’s Dance, Science Week, Concerts, Book Week Dress Up Parade and a successful OzTag carnival.

Our music offerings continue to grow. We have four trained music teachers in our school. Jacinta Foale runs classroom music lessons for all students in the school on a Tuesday as well as runs the Ukelele Club. Paul Meneeley delivers brass, woodwind and percussion instrumental lessons to students in Years 3-6 as well as runs the Concert band, Ally Bing conducts piano lessons on a user pays basis for all interested students and Simon Eastwood runs free strings and guitar group lessons, runs our whole school choir and school rock band. (Mr Eastwood can be seen in the photo with his musical school students.)  He is also available for private music lessons for students and adults as well. We will be showcasing our students‘ musical prowess at our Art Gallery and Concert on Thursday 28 November. Entry is free and all are welcome to come along and enjoy the show.

We also now are fortunate to have Charlotte Speck running an after school program here every afternoon until 6pm. This has been very popular with our parents and students alike.

On Friday October 18 we will be holding our final Prep Open Day for 2019. This is an opportunity for anyone to come and have a look at the Prep /One classroom and around our school. The morning will run from 9:00- 10:30 AM.

In 2019 our focus has been on improving our students reading skills. In 2019 over half of our students achieved results which places them in the Upper 2 Bands in the recent NAPLAN tests. This is thanks to our dedicated staff using school-wide, consistent and research-based methods in the classrooms as well as our students having the opportunity to work with the wonderful volunteers in the Daily Rapid Reading Program and also with Madeline, our wonderful Story Dog that visits every Tuesday.

We would like to thank the Montville community for their generous support and look forward to a positive and productive Term 4 2019.
