Montville Remembers World War One 1914 – 1919, Book 9 Part 1 in the Montville Stories Series introduces the circumstances and events of the First World War.

It pays tribute with a roll of honour identifying those soldiers who worked and/or lived in Montville and describing their military history and their lives before and after the war.

The book also gives the history of the Memorial Gate and Pillars that record the names of those who enlisted, those who were rejected and those who died in active service, and details the memorial trees planted by the school children for the fallen soldiers.

The role of the Patriotic Committee and other caretaker committees as well as a description of the recent refurbishment of the memorial gate and Pillars are included.

The book is 180 pages with around 60 photos collected from archives and from families of the soldiers.

16 May; Stronger Together Forum SSC

In 2018 Sunshine Coast Council developed a Community Strategy 2019-2041 and Action Plan 2019-2024. As part of a review and refresh of the Action Plan Council is holding a community forum on 16th May 2023 to seek input from the community to develop a renewed set of actions for the next five years.

To find out more and how to register your place at the Stronger Together Forum click on the link. You will also find information about other ways that you can have your say on the Action Plan if you can’t attend the forum.

I’ve also attached an invitation for you to disseminate to others who may be interested in attending the forum.
