Hello again. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and could spend some time with family and friends.  Since my last article in January, there have been 33 policing occurrences in Montville and 23 in Flaxton.  That equates to less than 10 per month for each area, which is an excellent result.  Once again, it reinforces to me what a fantastic part of the world is Montville and Flaxton.

In late January, a burglary occurred in Western Avenue in which various household goods were stolen.  A 27 year old man has been charged with that offence.  Unfortunately he has failed to appear in court and is currently wanted on warrant.

In April, a burglary occurred at a Flaxton Mill Road address.  Entry was gained to the home by cutting the fly screen on the locked sliding door.  A quantity of jewellery was stolen, including some very sentimental family heirlooms.

In February, a burglary occurred in Woombye.  The resulting investigation located several stolen vehicles and a large quantity of stolen property at residences in Flaxton Mill Road and Remington Shute Road.  A 25 year old Nambour man has been charged with multiple offences relating to the burglary and the located property.

In March, police attended a domestic violence incident in Barsons Road.  This resulted in police applying for a protection order on behalf of an aggrieved person.  A protection order was subsequently issued in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court.

In January, a 15 year old girl went missing from Flaxton.  The girl was located the next day without incident or injury.  In February, a 35 year old man was reported missing from Flaxton.  He was also located a few days later without incident or injury.

In February, a single vehicle injury crash occurred on Flaxton Drive.  A 35 year old Beerwah man suffered internal injuries and was conveyed to hospital by ambulance.  He was later charged with driving without due care and attention and driving an unregistered vehicle.

In February, a 29 year old Gheerulla man was charged with unlicensed driving on Flaxton Drive.

Traffic enforcement continues to be a high priority around Montville and Flaxton and numerous infringement notices have been issued to drivers for a variety of offences.

I have also received several complaints from Montville businesses regarding vehicles parking in the ‘No Standing’ zones and loading zones in Main Street.  These areas are generally set in front of the shops for delivery vehicles to park when delivering goods to the shops.  If the drivers are forced to park long distances away from the shops, this creates issues for all involved, including deliveries not being made and businesses not receiving their goods.  Please show consideration for your local businesses and find a legal park, even if you are only dropping in for a few minutes.  It is surprising how often a two minute stop turns into 30 minutes when people get talking.  Police will be on the lookout for vehicles parked illegally and will issue infringement notices to any that are located.

If anyone has any information in relation to any of the matters I have mentioned here, or any other matters, please contact Palmwoods Police on 5459 0290 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.  We are especially keen for any information in relation to the unsolved burglary.

Until next time, stay safe.

Kevin Crowley, Officer in Charge, Palmwoods Police Station
