Members of the Montville Village Association voted unanimously at a recent General Meeting to support action against the proposed Casino at Maroochydore.  The three major points of the petition currently circulating throughout the Sunshine Coast are ample grounds for everyone to be concerned and we encourage all residents to sign the petition against the development of the casino.

1.  A casino will cause irreparable harm to the social fabric of the Sunshine Coast community and will ultimately lead to increased poverty, particularly for our most socially disadvantaged.
2.  The construction of a casino in an existing residential area of Maroochydore will lead to an increase in organised and violent crime and will irrevocably alter the Sunshine Coast for the worse.
3.  Any such casino is not in keeping with the relaxed family-friendly environment that makes the Sunshine Coast world-renowned.

Council’s plan to change the character of the Sunshine Coast by building a casino at their Maroochydore development site is emerging as one of the biggest threats to the future of our community. So far over 6000 residents have signed the petition and there is an enormous groundswell of support against the Council’s plans.
