Through the generosity of the Montville community and friends, the Play for Purpose raffle and being awarded a $35,000 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, we have now completed resurfacing of the two courts at a total cost of around $77,000. Our sincere thanks to our members for their support, assistance and encouragement, and to the Blackall Range Lions Club members who helped prepare the old courts for refurbishment.

The official opening of the new courts will be on Saturday, 19 October 2019 at 10am immediately following the club’s first annual general meeting.

The courts have been christened ‘Pineapple’ and ‘Bunya-Bunya’ with appropriate signage created for identification. We are pleased to report that membership is increasing; there are three permanent groups playing and a small number of casual bookings. If you would like a hit, court bookings can be made by calling Montville IGA on (07) 5442 9214 to pick up the key, move the cow (kidding!) and access the courts (court rates are $16 per hour).

In the meantime, we are continuing to raise funds for phase two of the Montville Tennis Club revitalisation which will focus on the new clubhouse. Several grant applications are being pursued and tax deductible donations towards the club’s rejuvenation project can be made through the Australian Sports Foundation at this link https://asf.org.au/donate/montville-tennis-club-rejuvenation

The MTC continues to partner with the not-for-profit raffle Play for Purpose. There is a one in 34 chance of sharing in $500,000 worth of prizes with a minimum of 50% from every ticket sold going directly to the MTC. Grab a ticket for Round 5 at https://playforpurpose.com.au/montville-tennis-club
